Night Moves. Another band that has been living in the background of my life the past handful of years. Not much of a rock and roll boy but these dudes are different. Seeing them live last night had me in a trance. The lead singer has a voice that is as unique as any and has the ability to make you feel something with one word. I turn to this music when I feel happy and I turn to this music when I am having a bad day. Happy or sad, most of the time it’s the same song.
Take this song for example.
“And it’s hard to be here lately
And that's something I know you must need
Though I’m having troubles namely
Knowing I’m someone I just shouldn't be
Presently, Bethany.
Eventually, Bethany.”
The song fills me with heartbreak with little pops of hope. It speaks to his voice that a line like “though I’m having troubles namely/knowing I'm someone I just shouldn’t be” fills me with a deep sense of loneliness while simultaneously comforting in me in that who I am is okay. I don’t need to be anything else. Turns out my baseline is pretty melancholic and this song absolutely nails that. Thanks for being you Night Moves.
